Oliver Bernard have partnered with an ambitious, technology-driven business looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its growing engineering team.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Python engineer who wants to work on complex, scalable systems while embracing the next generation of AI-assisted software development.

The Role
You'll take ownership of backend services, API design and data-intensive workflows, working closely with product and engineering teams to build reliable, scalable software.
AI is central to the engineering approach, with a strong focus on agentic coding tools and spec-driven development to improve how software is designed, built, tested and delivered.

What They're Looking For

6+ years of commercial software engineering experience

Strong Python and Django expertise

Experience designing APIs, microservices and complex data models

A solid understanding of production reliability, testing and system architecture

Experience using AI coding tools within a professional engineering workflow

Someone who enjoys technical ownership, solving complex problems and helping other engineers develop
