Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to develop headless APIs, search indexing services, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations for Adobe Content Finder. This engineer will build secure, reliable backend services that enable AI agents and consuming applications to discover and retrieve authorized content through a stable service layer backed by PostgreSQL.

The ideal candidate has strong production experience with TypeScript and Node.js, API architecture, search and retrieval systems, MCP server development, and permission-aware data access. The focus is backend services and platform integration rather than primary UI development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable TypeScript and Node.js services for content discovery, search, and retrieval.
• Develop well-defined APIs with versioned contracts, pagination, input validation, structured responses, and consistent error handling.
• Build and maintain search indexes, including incremental updates, versioning, rebuilds, freshness monitoring, and relevance evaluation.
• Implement MCP server tools with validated input schemas, bounded capabilities, structured outputs, and predictable failure behavior.
• Enforce caller identity and authorization across API, search, retrieval, and MCP execution paths.
• Protect database credentials and prevent direct database access or unrestricted SQL exposure to consumers and AI agents.
• Use PostgreSQL and SQL for data modeling, query analysis, stable identifiers, data quality validation, and provenance.
• Build automated unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Implement logging, metrics, tracing, performance diagnostics, and production monitoring.
• Support containerized deployments, safe rollbacks, operational recovery, technical documentation, and maintainable integration examples.
• Collaborate with platform, product, and engineering teams to deliver dependable services.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of overall software engineering experience preferred, including substantial hands-on backend development.
• Strong production proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs or comparable service interfaces.
• Practical experience with authentication, scoped authorization, identity propagation, and permission-aware data access.
• Hands-on experience developing MCP servers, MCP tools, or production MCP integrations.
• Experience designing search indexes and retrieval workflows, including filters, updates, lifecycle management, and relevance or performance evaluation.
• Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills.
• Experience with automated testing, production observability, containerized services, and deployment recovery.
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and produce maintainable documentation.

Nice to Have:

• Azure Container Apps and Azure Blob Storage.
• Embeddings, vector retrieval, hybrid search, and relevance ranking.
• TypeScript SDK design and reusable client libraries.
• Next.js and React integration experience.
• Experience with content platforms, document discovery, AI agents, or retrieval services.
