Why this role matters
Hail doesn't give notice. When a storm hits, thousands of claims come in within a few hours, wherever it lands. Our technology has to work at that moment, so every customer is handled fast. You are the person who makes sure it does.
Your part
Build and run HailCare Pro, our claims and repair platform for hail damage, used on five continents, including in the US, Brazil, Spain, South Africa and Australia. Most of your time goes into HailCare Pro integrations and product support; you'll also support our Colibri hail scanners on the software side and help improve them. You'll work fully on-site in our Lewisville office for the first 4 weeks (2 with our US team, 2 with the scanner team), then hybrid, about half the week in the office, with occasional travel to scanner stations, alongside our COO and our development partner in Germany. Early in your first months, you'll also spend a few weeks with our development team in Berlin to get to know the team and the codebase.
Why we're hiring now: Claim seasons are starting in Brazil, Spain, South Africa and Australia, and our US season starts February 1. Our CCC API access was just approved, and HailCare Pro needs US-specific features now.
What you'll do
- Build HailCare Pro features for the US market, starting with importing CCC estimates through our newly approved CCC API
- Build and maintain integrations: CCC, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Business Central, and our technician app
- Work with our development partner Axonetiq (Berlin-based, the team behind HailCare Pro): write change requests, review, test, and release
- Support live claim operations across all markets during their seasons – find and fix issues fast
- Support our Colibri hail scanners on the IT side: software updates, troubleshooting, and the data flow into HailCare Pro
- Be available evenings and weekends during active hail season storm events, on call to keep claims moving
First 90 days
- CCC estimates importing into HailCare Pro
- HailCare Pro invoices flowing into QuickBooks without manual retyping
- You're the first point of contact for HailCare Pro issues across all markets
Required
- Our stack: Angular (plus a legacy AngularJS app), Next.js, Node.js, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Camunda (BPMN)
- 3–6 years of hands-on full-stack development on most of our stack technologies
- Experience in integrations between business systems
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in web development, including data structures, algorithms, system design, debugging, testing, and code quality practices. This knowledge is essential for directing AI tools effectively and catching their mistakes.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI coding assistants and agents (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or equivalent). You regularly use them to accelerate design, implementation, refactoring, and testing while retaining ownership of the result.
- Skilled at critically reviewing, validating, debugging, and improving AI-generated code. You identify logic errors, security issues, edge-case failures, performance problems, and design mismatches that AI tools commonly introduce.
- Ability to break down ambiguous requirements into clear specifications and context that AI tools can act on productively, then iterate until the output is production-ready.
- Insurance, collision, or claims software experience; CCC ONE experience
- Clear communication skills in English with operations staff, developers and business clients
- Based near our Lewisville, TX office: fully on-site for the first 4 weeks, then hybrid, with occasional travel to scanner stations
- Available for evening and weekend on-call work during hail season storm events
