We are looking for a
Senior Backend Engineer
to join the Core Banking Services team and help build and scale a high-performance Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform. We build and scale the high-performance, serverless API layer that empowers both internal consumers and partner banks to manage customers and their accounts.
As a pure backend engineering team, we don't build UI components. Instead, we focus entirely on engineering robust, highly available, and secure distributed services. The team owns the end-to-end lifecycle of core banking entities, including:
-
Identity & Compliance: Automated customer onboarding and complex KYC workflows.
-
Ledger & Accounts: Scalable deposit account management systems.
-
Reporting: High-throughput data processing for reporting obligations, observability, and account statement generation.
Responsibilities:
-
Build and maintain the BaaS API services, including REST API and event-driven systems with a serverless architecture that other teams and partners depend on, making sure they're reliable and accurate.
-
Help shape how we solve problems: contribute ideas on how things should be built, weigh in on important decisions, and make sure we're building things the right way for the long term.
-
Keep our CI/CD processes healthy: spot when things are slow or breaking, and take action to make the team's day-to-day smoother and faster.
-
Drive architectural decisions and solution design within your domain, including writing technical solution designs, participating in threat modeling workshops, and collaborating cross-team on upstream/downstream dependencies.
-
Take ownership of production reliability by participating in an On-Call rotation, leading incident investigations, identifying root causes, and driving hotfixes, as the team does with live incidents on the platform.
-
Work with external partners and services we connect to, and take ownership when something on their side needs following up or resolving.
-
Keep our build, testing, and release processes healthy: spot when things are slow or breaking, and take action to make the team's day-to-day smoother and faster.
Must have:
-
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a backend engineer, with at least 2 years of NodeJs/TypeScript experience.
-
Highly responsible for working with critical high-core value systems for the company.
-
Solid experience with AWS Serverless services - Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3.
-
Solid understanding and practical application of design patterns
-
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform & CDK).
-
Hands-on experience with TypeScript testing practices (unit, integration, system testing).
-
Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka)
-
Familiarity with RESTful API design and OpenAPI specifications.
Soft skills:
-
Excellent communication skills. Ability to articulate challenges and solutions clearly.
-
Proven team player. Collaborates well with others and supports shared goals.
-
Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities; able to design robust solutions and analyze production issues.
-
Proactiveness in supporting teammates and driving technical improvements.
-
Fluency in English.
Good to have:
-
Experience working in a monorepo setup (pnpm workspaces or similar).
-
Experience with Relational Databases (MySQL) and an ORM such as Prisma.
-
Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB or similar)
-
German-language skills are a plus but not mandatory.
We offer*:
-
Flexible working format - remote, office-based or flexible
-
A competitive salary and good compensation package
-
Personalized career growth
-
Professional development tools (mentorship program, tech talks and trainings, centers of excellence, and more)

-

-
Memorable anniversary presents
-
Corporate events and team buildings
-
Other location-specific benefits
