Job description
ARC Regulatory combines specialist IVD/CDx clinical research expertise with laboratory services and software solutions to support Sponsors across the clinical trial lifecycle and accelerate global precision medicine studies.
Through its Dx CRO and Sponsor Delegation services, ARC supports the planning, delivery and oversight of global CDx clinical trials, acting as an extension of the Sponsor team and providing clear ownership and accountability across delegated activities.
ARC Laboratories, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, provides in-house assay and clinical trial sample testing capabilities across IHC, qPCR, ELISA and NGS-based testing. The laboratory is UKAS ISO 15189 and CAP accredited, providing high-quality biomarker testing for precision medicine clinical trials.
ARC’s Health Institution status, under the IVDR Article 5(5), provides a practical route for early-phase clinical trial sample testing in the EU and UK, helping reduce regulatory burden and enable faster sample testing for eligible studies
.
ARC also combines its regulatory expertise with technology through ARC360® powered by AURA AI. ARC360® is a regulatory intelligence and submission collaboration platform scoped specifically for CDx clinical trials, bringing national regulatory requirements, submission workflows, document generation and project reporting into one place. AURA AI capabilities combine the speed of AI with human expertise to support structured, traceable and auditable regulatory outputs.
By connecting clinical research, laboratory and technology expertise, ARC helps Sponsors reduce complexity, manage risk and maintain control across their global precision medicine clinical trials.
Job Purpose
To develop and maintain ARC’s digital platforms, with a primary focus on building intuitive, accessible and high-performing user interfaces.
Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the Frontend Developer will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Software Engineers, AI Engineers and Test Engineers to translate user needs and designs into reliable software.
While the role will focus on frontend development, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to backend development when needed. As ARC introduces its Vue, .NET, SQL Server and Azure technology stack, we are working towards broader full-stack capability across the team. This role offers the opportunity to build on strong frontend experience and develop skills across backend services, APIs, databases and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain responsive web applications using Vue.js, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS.
- Translate UI/UX designs, Figma prototypes and wireframes into accessible, production-ready interfaces.
- Develop reusable UI components and support consistent design patterns across ARC’s digital platforms.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs, including state management, authentication, input validation and error handling.
- Create clear loading, empty and error states to support an intuitive user experience.
- Improve application performance, responsiveness, accessibility and browser compatibility.
- Support the migration of existing applications to ARC’s new technology stack and maintainable development approaches.
- Contribute to backend development when required, including C# and .NET services, APIs, SQL Server databases and Azure services, building capability in these areas over time.
- Troubleshoot software issues, participate in code reviews and maintain appropriate automated tests, working with Test Engineers to resolve defects.
- Follow agreed coding, security and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to clarify requirements, estimate work and deliver features within an Agile environment.
- Manage assigned development activities, communicate progress and raise risks, dependencies or potential delays early, proposing practical solutions where needed.
- Share knowledge and actively develop skills to support the team’s transition towards broader full-stack development.
Essential Skills
We are looking for an experienced Frontend Software Engineer with strong interface development skills and an interest in broadening their contribution across the full technology stack.
- Strong commercial frontend development experience, ideally five or more years.
- Strong experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and a modern framework such as Vue.js, React or Angular, with the ability and willingness to work with Vue.js.
- Experience using TypeScript.
- Experience translating Figma designs into responsive interfaces and collaborating with UX/UI designers.
- Experience developing reusable components or working with design systems.
- Practical knowledge of WCAG accessibility requirements, browser compatibility and frontend performance.
- Experience integrating APIs and handling authentication, validation and errors.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted applications, ideally Azure.
- Experience using Git, participating in code reviews, testing software and working within Agile teams.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with close attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work independently, provide realistic estimates and deliver against agreed deadlines.
- A willingness to learn and contribute to backend development as required, developing broader full-stack capability.
- The ability to work collaboratively with ARC’s Belfast-based technology team.
Desirable Skills
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience contributing to backend development using C#, ASP.NET Core or .NET/.NET Core services.
- Experience developing or extending APIs and working with relational databases, preferably SQL Server.
- Experience with Azure App Services, Functions and Storage.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps or GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with jQuery or modernising legacy frontend applications.
- Knowledge of microservices and secure software development.
- Experience developing AI-enabled products or applications involving complex, data-driven workflows.
- Experience within medical devices, healthcare, life sciences or another regulated industry.
